Every Strategy Has an Origin
Every strategy has an origin. Intent Media's began long before the company existed, in the field, at the start lines of Canada's premier peer-to-peer fundraising events. This Featured Experience tells that story. It is not a portfolio of tactics or a list of results. It is an account of how a way of thinking was formed, over nearly two decades, in service of a cause that was also, from the first day, deeply personal. It matters because that philosophy still governs how Intent Media approaches every engagement.
Building More Than Campaigns
Peer-to-peer fundraising asks something unusual. Before anyone reaches a start line, they commit to a meaningful fundraising minimum. Success was never a matter of being seen. It depended on attracting the right people, understanding what moved them, and turning that motivation into registrations, registrations into fundraising commitments, and commitments into a community that returned year after year. Working across many organizations, cities and causes, Geoff learned that growth is not a matter of doing more. It is a matter of understanding each place well enough to earn its trust. Media, he came to believe, is a tool and not the objective; the work is measured by action rather than attention.
"I did not spend two decades marketing fundraising events. I spent them learning that people do not give to campaigns, they give to one another, and that the truest work of media is only to help them find the way."
A Foundation for Intent Media
None of this stayed in the past. The belief that every community is different now shapes how Intent Media approaches market strategy. The conviction that media exists to move people, not to impress them, is why the firm measures its work by action rather than impressions. And the understanding that fundraising is, in the end, about people is why Intent Media treats media investment for health charities as seed capital rather than overhead. When Geoff built the firm, he did not set out to invent a philosophy. He already had one, and Intent Media was simply the place to keep practicing it.
